Longtime weekend radio hosts Murray Wilton and Murray Olds, known collectively as The Two Murrays, will no longer be part of 2GB's lineup after four years on air, the station confirmed. The decision came last week, surprising listeners and staff alike, as the pair had become established fixtures filling the weekend slot, particularly during the rugby league off-season.
The Two Murrays were reunited at 2GB by executive Greg Burns four years ago, having previously shared airtime on 2UE in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Over their tenure, they garnered a loyal audience with their distinctive presenting style and have been considered weekend favourites.
While the exact reasons behind the decision were not detailed, management indicated that programming changes were underway. The pair are expected to be replaced by a motoring journalist, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
A spokesperson for 2GB expressed gratitude for The Two Murrays’ contributions and said the station plans to maintain an intermittent working relationship with them, particularly during the summer months. "We are grateful for The Two Murrays and all that they have done over the last few years and we will continue to have a relationship with them on an ad hoc basis over the summer months," the representative said.
The move marks a significant shift in 2GB’s weekend programming, as The Two Murrays have long been a staple for listeners tuning in during non-peak times. The decision has come as part of broader changes at the station aimed at refreshing its content offerings.
