IPOH — Two sisters were killed and a third sibling seriously injured in a motorcycle collision near Taman Perpaduan Ria, officials confirmed. The accident occurred yesterday morning as the three were traveling to Bercham.

According to Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah, the two victims who died at the scene were aged nine and 19. Their 12-year-old sister, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for treatment. The elder sister, 19, was driving the motorcycle with her two younger siblings riding as passengers.

The collision involved a car driven by a 19-year-old woman emerging from a junction along Jalan Perpaduan. Police said the car driver was not injured in the incident.

Authorities received a distress call at approximately 7:40 a.m. ACP Muhammad Najib stated that the case is under investigation pursuant to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act. Police are also looking into whether the motorcycle riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, assistant operations director of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, reported that the injured girl was semi-conscious when rescued and had been fitted with a cervical collar before being transported to the hospital. The remains of the two fatalities have been handed over to the police for further action.
