Two teenagers have been sentenced to four years in prison for the manslaughter of a 17-year-old boy outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Southwark, Southeast London. The victim, Yeray Sanchez Morales, was attacked on August 27 of last year, suffering multiple stab wounds and a blow from a bottle in an incident witnessed by a crowd of teenagers. He died in hospital after being in critical condition for a week.

Alongside Yeray, a second teenager was also injured during the altercation and received medical treatment. The violence resulted in serious injuries that ultimately led to Yeray’s death.

Following a trial, seven individuals—four men and three boys—were found guilty of various offenses connected to the case. Among them, Andres Tapia Londono, 18, and Christhofer Jesus Vasquez, 18, both residents of North London, were specifically convicted of manslaughter. Both were subsequently sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.

In a statement released by police, Yeray’s mother, Elena Morales, expressed her grief, recalling her son’s aspirations of becoming a physical education teacher.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, which underscores ongoing concerns about knife crime in the capital. The sentencing marks a significant development in a case that attracted considerable attention in the community.
