A lorry carrying a couple slid into a collapsed section of road caused by a landslide along Jalan Aring 8-Kenyir-Kuala Jeneris near the Sungai Deka Elephant Conservation Centre in Hulu Terengganu on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m.
Hulu Terengganu police chief Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab said the 57-year-old driver and his 55-year-old wife were unharmed. The couple had been traveling from their home in Ajil, Hulu Terengganu, to Kuala Krai, Kelantan, to collect a fruit supply.
According to Supt Sharudin, the couple stopped the lorry upon encountering the landslide and exited the vehicle to assess the road conditions. The lorry then reportedly experienced a brake system failure, causing it to slide into the collapsed section of the road. No injuries were sustained by either occupant.
The vehicle sustained damage to both its front and rear ends, and the roadside barrier was also damaged in the incident. Local authorities responded to the scene to assess the damage and ensure safety in the area.
