Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has endorsed Republican candidate Anthony Constantino, who is seeking to succeed Rep. Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st Congressional District. The endorsement was announced Monday as part of Constantino’s campaign efforts ahead of the November midterm elections.

Constantino, who launched his professional boxing career at age 40, holds a record of two wins and one loss, including two knockouts. He is also the founder of Sticker Mule, a manufacturing company based in Amsterdam, New York, that employs approximately 1,000 people. Tyson, who grew up in Catskill, New York, and is widely regarded as an iconic figure in the sport, communicated his support following a recent meeting in Syracuse.

The two connected last Friday after Tyson traveled with former President Donald Trump on Air Force One to attend a rally in Syracuse. According to Constantino’s campaign, Tyson complimented the candidate on his television presence during a roughly 16-minute address at the event.

Constantino’s campaign described Tyson’s endorsement as a significant boost within the competitive political landscape of upstate New York, where Democrats are also vying for the district in the upcoming midterm elections. The endorsement highlights local ties, with both Tyson and Constantino having roots in the region.

Rep. Elise Stefanik currently represents the district but is vacating the seat to pursue statewide office. The race to replace her has drawn considerable attention, making endorsements and campaign momentum critical factors for candidates.
