Irish rock band U2 are marking their 50th anniversary with the release of their first new studio album in nearly a decade. The group unveiled a new single, "Street Of Dreams," on July 7, offering listeners a preview of the full album scheduled for release later this year through Island Records.
The music video for "Street Of Dreams" was filmed in Mexico City in May, coinciding with U2’s attendance at the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals, a football tournament held in the city. The band’s engagement with the event highlighted their ongoing interest in global social issues.
U2, composed of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr., will officially celebrate the milestone of 50 years since their formation this September. The band traces its origins back to Dublin’s Mount Temple Comprehensive School, where drummer Larry Mullen Jr. initiated their collaboration by posting a handwritten note on the school’s noticeboard reading, "Drummer seeks musicians to form band."
This upcoming album marks U2’s first full-length release since their 2017 project, reflecting a significant gap in new studio material from the group. As one of the most enduring acts in rock music, their latest work is highly anticipated by fans and industry observers alike.
