Irish rock band U2 marked their 50th anniversary with a surprise performance at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin, the venue of their first gig in 1976. The appearance, which took place yesterday, celebrated the upcoming release of their new album, *Carnaval de Luz*.

The band opened their set with “I Will Follow,” followed by a selection of hits including “Vertigo,” “Beautiful Day,” and “Out of Control.” The album, set to be released on November 12, is U2’s first new studio record in nine years. It notably features the final recorded vocal performance of country music legend Dolly Parton, who passed away last month.

Parton’s contribution is a duet with lead vocalist Bono on the track “Torn.” According to Bono, Parton began work on the song before becoming seriously ill, and despite her condition, she rose from bed to complete her vocal parts. The band subsequently built on her initial work to complete the track.

The performance and album release underscore a milestone in U2’s enduring career, combining nostalgia with new material that includes a cross-genre collaboration with Parton.
