The United Arab Emirates has expanded its Wage Protection System (WPS) by incorporating seven additional financial institutions, a development aimed at providing employers with greater flexibility in salary payments and streamlining administrative processes.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced the enhancement as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency, reliability, and transparency of wage transfers, thereby safeguarding employee rights across the country.

Under the updated system, employers will experience simplified registration and wage transfer procedures, including a significant reduction in required documentation—reportedly by 90 percent—and the elimination of the need for physical visits to financial institutions. The integration of new financial entities expands the available payment channels, allowing for more convenient and flexible salary disbursements.

The ministry emphasized that these changes aim to minimize bureaucratic hurdles while supporting stable employment relationships. By reducing administrative requirements and steps, MoHRE expects the system to enhance the overall compliance and promptness of wage payments.

This expansion reflects the UAE government’s commitment to improving labor market practices in line with broader economic reforms and workers’ rights protections.
