The United Arab Emirates national judo team opened their campaign at the Arab Junior Judo Championship in Amman, Jordan, by securing a total of eight medals on the first day of competition. The UAE squad claimed three golds, two silvers, and three bronze medals across various weight categories.

Bati Ahmed Al Hashmi took the first gold in the under-60kg division after defeating Jordanian competitor Mohammed Mauth in the final bout. Saqr Badr Al Otaibi followed with a gold medal performance in the under-66kg category, overcoming Kuwait’s Mishari Marzouq. The third gold was won by Youssef Al Awad in the under-81kg class, where he emerged victorious against Kuwait’s Musa Al-Dayan.

The UAE team’s silver medals came from Manaa Al Zaabi in the 50kg division, who narrowly lost to Kuwait’s Abdul Jalil Al-Shammari, and Hamdan Al Mazmi in the 73kg category, who was edged out by Kuwait’s Rashid Faris.

Three additional podium finishes were secured with bronze medals by Masoud Al Masmari (55kg), Mohammed Al Mazmi (50kg), and Anas Al Yamahi (66kg), rounding out the team’s strong opening performance.

Mohammed Bin Thaloub Al Darei, President of the UAE Judo Federation, attributed the successful start to the federation’s efforts in cultivating a new generation of athletes prepared for international competition. He underscored that the medal haul reflected the effectiveness of the federation’s development strategy as the team aims to further establish itself in regional judo events.
