The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned recent attacks by the Houthi group targeting civilian and economic infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, as well as assaults on Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and near the Bab Al Mandab Strait. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the strikes as clear violations of Saudi sovereignty and a threat to regional security and stability.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition reported intercepting and destroying a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia north of Riyadh. Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al Maliki confirmed the missile interception in a statement on social media platform X.
In parallel developments, Saudi Arabia’s Chief of Naval Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al Gharbi, met with Vice Admiral Curt Renshaw, Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command and the US Fifth Fleet, to discuss naval collaboration. The meeting focused on enhancing maritime security and ensuring the freedom of navigation in the Gulf and wider region, reflecting ongoing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States on mutual security interests.
These events underscore continuing tensions in the region as the Houthi group maintains its campaign against Saudi targets, contributing to broader instability in the Red Sea maritime corridor. The UAE and Saudi Arabia, backed by allied coalition forces, continue to emphasize coordinated defense measures to counter these threats.
