The United Arab Emirates is set to expand its domestic production of medicines for cancer, chronic illnesses, and other medical conditions through a new partnership between ADCAN Pharma and MS Pharma. The agreement was announced on Tuesday during the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit and aims to bolster the country’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities while enhancing patient access to essential treatments.
The collaboration will focus on manufacturing, packaging, and testing a variety of medicines within the UAE, including injectable therapies, tablets, and biosimilars. Biosimilars are drugs designed to closely resemble existing biological treatments and are commonly used in managing complex diseases such as cancer and autoimmune disorders.
The initiative targets a broad spectrum of medical fields, including oncology, immunology, ophthalmology, respiratory care, and cardiovascular health. It will also encompass treatments for metabolic disorders, neurological conditions, infections, and other health challenges.
By increasing local production, ADCAN Pharma and MS Pharma aim to improve the availability and affordability of key medications while reducing reliance on international supply chains. As part of the partnership, ADCAN Pharma plans to develop laboratory facilities within the UAE to conduct quality testing of monoclonal antibodies, which are critical components in various advanced medical therapies.
This expansion reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and pharmaceutical industry to meet growing domestic and regional demand.
