The United Development Company (UDC), in collaboration with The Pearl International Hospital, hosted a community event and workshop to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The gathering, held at The Pearl International Hospital, brought together UDC employees, local residents, and healthcare professionals with the aim of promoting early detection, preventive healthcare, and informed health decisions.
This event builds upon an awareness campaign UDC launched the previous year, underscoring its ongoing commitment to fostering breast cancer awareness annually within the community. The workshop emphasized practical measures to support early detection, including the need to recognize physical changes and potential warning signs. Healthcare specialists advocated for regular self-examinations and encouraged women to seek medical consultation when necessary.
Participants were also advised to maintain routine health screenings, including mammograms for eligible women, as part of a proactive strategy to safeguard their health. The programme further highlighted the influential role women play in encouraging positive health practices both within their families and the broader community.
Local entrepreneur and influencer Afraa al-Noaimi delivered a keynote address during the event. She stressed the importance of self-care, fostering open discussions about health, sharing knowledge and experiences, and making time for personal wellbeing.
The event received additional support from several organizations, including Hospitality Development Company (HDC), Lab 33, Skin & More, Quartier Beauty, and Floribunda, which contributed to enhancing the community experience and advancing the programme’s goals.
Beyond the workshops, UDC extended the breast cancer awareness campaign throughout its properties by illuminating several prominent landmarks in pink from October 1 through the end of the month. These landmarks included UDC Tower, Gewan Bridge, and the Crystal Walk shades, serving as visible symbols of the initiative to raise public awareness.
