The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has partnered with the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management to launch a new Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) program aimed at cultivating healthcare leadership in Qatar and the broader region. The program was officially introduced at a ceremony held at UDST, drawing an audience of academic leaders, healthcare professionals, and key decision-makers.
Among the attendees were Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, director of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Programs Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Rayana Ahmad Bou Haka, World Health Organization country director, and representatives from prominent healthcare organizations in Qatar, including Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Medicine, The View Hospital, the Qatar Cancer Society, and Al Ahli Hospital.
The EMHA program is designed to equip experienced healthcare professionals with advanced strategic, leadership, and system-level skills necessary to manage complex healthcare organizations and drive innovation within the sector. The curriculum blends rigorous academic training with practical, industry-focused learning, reflecting a growing emphasis on developing leadership capabilities in healthcare management across the country.
Dr. Vincent Mangematin, dean of UDST’s College of Business, highlighted the importance of the collaboration and its alignment with Qatar’s broader healthcare objectives. He stated that the program aims to produce leaders capable of advancing healthcare systems and fostering innovation, supported by access to globally recognized education through the University of Ottawa partnership.
Echoing this, Dr. Greg Richards, vice dean for Graduate Professional Programmes at the University of Ottawa, underscored the value of international cooperation in addressing evolving healthcare challenges and preparing executives to navigate increasingly complex environments.
Applications for the inaugural EMHA cohort are currently open, with classes expected to commence in the forthcoming academic cycle. The launch of this program marks a strategic step in building Qatar’s capacity to lead and innovate within healthcare administration.
