The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) and Qatar Cool have formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in areas such as student innovation, applied learning, research, professional development, and sustainability. The agreement was signed at UDST’s campus in Doha by the university’s President, Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al-Naemi, and Qatar Cool’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Nahar Saleh al-Mutawah.

The cooperation outlined in the MoU encompasses a range of activities designed to integrate academic study with current industry practices and challenges. These include student competitions and hackathons, applied learning initiatives, research projects, curriculum development, as well as internships and training programs. Special emphasis is placed on sustainability and energy efficiency, reflecting Qatar’s broader strategic priorities.

Dr. Al-Naemi highlighted the significance of industry partnerships within UDST’s applied education model, which aims to provide students with practical opportunities to utilize their knowledge in addressing real-world problems. He described the collaboration with Qatar Cool as a reflection of the university’s dedication to aligning education with market demands and creating meaningful avenues for students to enhance their innovation and professional skills.

Similarly, Nahar al-Mutawah emphasized the role of upcoming engineers in generating innovative solutions to practical challenges. Through initiatives such as the QC3 Hackathon, Qatar Cool intends to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by offering students hands-on experience with real-world issues. He pointed out that these efforts support environmental stewardship and community development, aligning with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The partnership is designed to support UDST’s approach to applied learning by integrating industry insights into the educational journey. It aims to facilitate student engagement with professionals, promote exploration of emerging technologies, and foster development of solutions that address Qatar’s priorities in energy and sustainability. Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration would contribute to the professional growth of students while advancing innovation within the country’s energy sector.
