The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) welcomed 2,000 students for the 2026-2027 academic year, with Qatari nationals comprising 25 percent of the incoming class. The university, recognized as Qatar’s national institution for applied education, continues to expand its academic offerings across five colleges, now providing over 80 programs in Business, Computing and Information Technology, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, and General Education.
This year’s expansion includes a new portfolio of specialised academic programs aimed at supporting Qatar’s knowledge economy and workforce development. Among these are the Executive Master of Health Administration, developed in collaboration with Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health and the University of Ottawa in Canada, and a Master of Science in Midwifery. Additionally, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality, UDST introduced the Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Animal Health and Veterinary Science, designed to prepare graduates to meet the diverse needs of key sectors in Qatar.
The university also highlighted the availability of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s In-Country Scholarship, which supports many UDST programs. For Qatari citizens and children of Qatari women, tuition-free diploma and bachelor’s degree programs continue to be offered, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to accessible higher education.
To mark the start of the academic year, UDST hosted “Ahlan,” a campus-wide orientation event that introduced new students to university life, academic resources, and support services. Participants engaged with faculty members, college deans, and representatives from various student support divisions, including Admissions and Registration, Student Central Services, Sport and Wellness, and Counselling and Accessibility Services.
UDST has also implemented initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience from the outset. The Student Success Management System provides personalised support and streamlines academic navigation, enabling students to better manage their educational journeys.
Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, president of UDST, emphasized the institution’s commitment to preparing students for future challenges, stating that the university’s expanding academic programs reflect a vision aligned with national priorities and the evolving needs of industry. He highlighted the university’s role in fostering innovation, applied learning, and collaboration with industry to equip graduates with the skills necessary for meaningful careers and lifelong success.
Through its diverse range of academic offerings, UDST aims to contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 by developing highly skilled professionals ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
