The British Ambassador to Kuwait, Qudsi Rasheed, reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to Kuwait’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity during an interview held on October 27 in Kuwait City. Highlighting over 125 years of diplomatic relations, Rasheed described the bilateral ties as a robust strategic partnership grounded in mutual trust and comprehensive cooperation.

Rasheed emphasized Kuwait’s position as one of the UK’s most enduring and significant partners in the Gulf region. He detailed the broad scope of collaboration between the two countries, which encompasses defense, security, trade, investment, healthcare, education, energy, culture, and innovation sectors.

Defense relations remain a cornerstone of this partnership, with roots tracing back to the UK’s role in Kuwait’s liberation in 1991. Current defense cooperation includes military training and education, enhancing defense capabilities, sharing counter-drone expertise, and fostering close coordination between security institutions in both countries.

Amid ongoing regional tensions, Rasheed noted that Britain continues to work closely with Kuwait and other Gulf partners to support regional stability, protect freedom of navigation, and ensure the security of allied states. He also commended Kuwait’s proactive efforts in promoting regional stability by fostering dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation.

Looking to the future, Ambassador Rasheed outlined plans to deepen collaboration in emerging fields such as cybersecurity, clean energy, artificial intelligence, digital services, healthcare, higher education, and financial services. British companies are actively engaged in advancing Kuwait’s development objectives under the New Kuwait Vision 2035, while Kuwait remains a significant investor in the UK economy.

The ambassador’s statements reflect a commitment to sustaining and expanding a multifaceted partnership aimed at addressing both current challenges and emerging opportunities in the Gulf region.
