UK-based catering and outsourcing firm Compass has reported significant growth following its involvement in this summer’s FIFA World Cup held across multiple cities in the United States. The company provided food and hospitality services at four of the 16 host cities, including the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, where England was defeated 2-1 by Argentina in the semi-final. Other venues where Compass operated included Kansas City, San Francisco, and Seattle, collectively hosting a total of 26 matches during the tournament.

In addition to stadium services, Compass catered at five official fan festivals, notably handling the final watch party in Central Park, New York City. The global provider employs approximately 590,000 staff and has expanded its customer base significantly over the past year, particularly among US technology firms such as Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.

The company attributed much of its recent success to increased demand from data centers and technology businesses, coinciding with growth driven by the artificial intelligence sector. Compass noted that about half of its new contracts in the last year stemmed from companies choosing to outsource food services for the first time. This trend is reportedly influenced by complexities related to regulatory compliance and managing allergy risks within corporate environments.

Compass reported a 7.1 percent increase in sales during the three months ending in June compared to the same period the previous year. Chief Executive Dominic Blakemore described the current commercial outlook as the strongest in the firm’s history, emphasizing a robust pipeline of future contracts across various industries.

The company’s performance reflects broader shifts in workplace catering, with an increasing focus on outsourcing as organizations seek specialist providers to navigate operational challenges, including food safety and employee wellbeing. Compass’s role at a high-profile global event like the World Cup also underscores its expanding international reach and capacity to support large-scale hospitality operations.
