More than £10 million has been raised by British donors in response to the recent earthquakes in Venezuela, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) announced. The appeal was launched on Wednesday, July 2, following two major earthquakes on June 24 that resulted in the confirmed deaths of approximately 2,900 people.

The DEC, a coalition of UK charities, along with their local partners in Venezuela, are actively delivering emergency aid including shelter, clean water, food, and medical care to affected communities. Efforts are ongoing as the need for humanitarian assistance remains urgent.

Adjoa Andoh, an actress and ambassador for disaster relief, expressed gratitude for the generosity of the British public, emphasizing the vital role of donations in supporting relief operations. She remarked that the kindness shown by donors was making a significant impact on the ground and bringing hope to those affected.

The rapid mobilisation of funds and resources reflects a strong public response within Britain to the catastrophe in Venezuela, where authorities continue to manage the aftermath of the deadly earthquakes. Humanitarian agencies have highlighted the necessity of sustained aid as they work to meet basic needs and support recovery in the hardest-hit areas.
