Ukrainian forces carried out an attack on an oil terminal in the Russian Black Sea city of Tuapse on Friday, according to Ukraine’s General Staff. This marks the fourth strike on the region’s oil infrastructure in just over two weeks. Explosions and a resulting fire were reported at the facility. Russian local officials confirmed that a Ukrainian drone attack caused the blaze but stated that no casualties occurred.
The facility had previously been targeted on April 16, April 20, and April 28. Veniamin Kondratyev, the regional governor, noted that a fire at the city’s oil refinery was extinguished on Thursday, less than 24 hours before the most recent incident.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continued their operations within Ukraine, launching a drone strike on the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil on Friday. According to Ternopil’s mayor, Serhii Nadal, over 50 drones were used in the attack, which struck industrial sites and critical infrastructure. At least 10 people were reported wounded, and some neighborhoods remained without power following the strikes.
Both sides have maintained their respective military campaigns, resulting in ongoing disruption and damage to infrastructure in contested areas. The repeated targeting of oil facilities in Tuapse highlights the strategic importance of energy infrastructure in the broader conflict. No further details about evacuation measures or responses from emergency services were immediately available for the recent strikes in Tuapse or Ternopil.
