Sunderland has secured the future of Ukrainian winger Timur Tutierov by signing him to a new contract that extends his stay at the club. The 21-year-old forward, who recently scored twice in a 5-1 pre-season win over York City, has been rewarded for his progress during the past year.

Tutierov made a significant impact in the first half of the 2025/26 season while playing for Sunderland’s U21 side, tallying six goals and one assist in seven appearances in Premier League 2. His promising displays earned him an opportunity to experience senior football with a loan spell at Exeter City, where he contributed three goals and one assist across 17 League One matches.

The club’s director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, praised Tutierov’s attitude and development, emphasizing that the new deal reflects Sunderland’s confidence in his long-term potential. “This new contract is a reward for the progress he has made and the attitude he continues to show every day,” Ghisolfi said. “He is humble, hardworking and eager to learn, and those qualities have been central to his development.”

Ghisolfi also highlighted the club’s broader commitment to nurturing young talent, stating that Tutierov exemplifies the type of player Sunderland aims to develop. “We’re dedicated to providing talented young players with opportunities to succeed when they’re ready, and we look forward to the next stage of Timur’s journey in red and white,” he added.

Tutierov’s extension signals Sunderland’s intention to build around emerging prospects as they prepare for the upcoming season at the Stadium of Light.
