An ultra-rare football trading card featuring Spanish winger Lamine Yamal sold for £532,000 in a recent auction, setting a new record for a card of the young football star. The Panini Kaboom card showcases Yamal in a comic book-style illustration wearing his Barcelona kit from his debut season in 2023-24, when he was just 16 years old.

The auction was conducted by Goldin Auction, based in New Jersey, United States, which described the card as being at "the very peak of rarity." The company also referred to Yamal as the “fastest-rising football star in the world.” At 19 years old, Yamal has already played a key role in Spain’s recent successes, contributing to their victories in both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

The £532,000 sale makes this Yamal card the most expensive to date. The auction also featured several other notable football memorabilia sales, including a 1958 Pele card that fetched £495,000 and a Lionel Messi card sold for £185,000. These figures reflect the growing market interest in rare football cards, particularly those connected to emerging and legendary players.
