In women’s basketball news, the New Mexico program finalized its 2026-27 roster on Sunday with the announcement that rising sophomore forward Leonor Peixinho will return for the upcoming season. Peixinho, standing 6-foot-10, hails from Lagoa, Portugal, and featured in 13 games as a freshman, averaging 0.5 points and 0.6 rebounds per contest.
New head coach Amy Eagan expressed optimism about Peixinho’s development under her system, highlighting the player’s shooting ability and her reputation as a strong teammate. “Leonor can really shoot the ball, and she was voted best teammate last season,” Eagan stated. “She’s got work to do, but she’s already putting in the effort. We’re looking forward to seeing her grow.”
Peixinho is one of five returning players on the Lobos’ 15-person roster, which also includes seven transfers and three incoming freshmen as the program prepares for the new season.
