His wife Edeltraud, who appeared alongside him in the illustrations, will be portrayed by Vicky Krieps. Krieps gained wider recognition in the Oscar-winning drama *Phantom Thread* (2017), where she starred opposite Daniel Day-Lewis, and most recently appeared in Netflix’s murder drama *Monster: The Ed Gein Story*.

The series will also involve notable actors Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, and Laura Linney in pivotal roles.
