UUE Holdings Bhd has formed a joint venture with EGP Infrastructure Investments Pte Ltd (EGPII) to expand its presence in the power grid infrastructure sector. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Kum Fatt Engineering Sdn Bhd, UUE entered into an agreement with EGPII to establish a new joint-venture company focused on the construction, development, and delivery of power grid infrastructure projects.

The partnership will primarily engage in the supply and installation of extra-high-voltage electrical equipment and materials, covering voltages ranging from 132kV to 500kV. This includes transformers, switchgear, cables, and related accessories, as well as the construction and commissioning of transmission and distribution systems.

According to the filing with Bursa Malaysia, UUE views the joint venture as a strategic move to extend its business operations into the extra-high-voltage substation engineering segment. The collaboration is designed to combine EGPII’s technical expertise with UUE’s existing underground utilities engineering capabilities. This integration is expected to enhance the group’s overall capacity and diversify its service offerings in the power infrastructure sector.

The joint venture also aims to position UUE for participation in larger-scale power grid infrastructure projects, potentially increasing its market reach and project scope within the industry. Financial terms and the timeline for the commencement of operations were not disclosed in the filing.
