The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Qatar hosted a formal reception in Doha on Wednesday to mark the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Uzbekistan's independence. The event took place at the Museum of Islamic Art and underscored the close diplomatic and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar.

The ceremony was attended by prominent Qatari officials, including Minister of Labour HE Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, Ministers of State HE Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari and HE Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, alongside representatives from government bodies, the diplomatic community, academia, media, and the business sector.

During the reception, attendees received detailed presentations highlighting Uzbekistan’s significant achievements since gaining independence. Particular emphasis was placed on the period of rapid socio-economic development and comprehensive reforms implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The event also showcased Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and traditions, providing guests with a deeper understanding of the nation’s identity.

A notable feature of the celebration was the serving of traditional Uzbek plov, which offered participants an authentic experience of the country’s national cuisine. The cultural program was further enhanced by a performance from renowned opera singer Otabek Nazirov, who presented a repertoire that reflected both Uzbek and international musical traditions.

This reception formed a key part of the broader commemorative activities recognizing Uzbekistan’s independence milestone. It aimed to reinforce the existing friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar, fostering continued cooperation in cultural, humanitarian, and diplomatic areas.
