Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), in partnership with Qatar Foundation, has announced the opening of its Community and Continuing Education (CCE) programmes for the fall semester of 2026. The courses, available for public enrolment, will run from late August through December, offering two distinct streams aimed at different learner groups.

The Continuing Education track targets VCUarts Qatar alumni, creative professionals, and entrepreneurs seeking professional development opportunities. This stream begins on August 31 with the course Business Basics for Designers: How to Think Like an Entrepreneur, which introduces participants to essential business concepts and strategies to transform creative ideas into viable ventures. This course will be provided free of charge to qualifying VCUarts Qatar alumni. Additionally, on September 26, VCUarts Qatar will partner with BlackRook Academy to deliver Design Thinking for Creative Problem Solving, a two-day virtual programme. It focuses on a human-centred approach to tackling complex problems, encouraging participants to leverage their professional experience to identify opportunities and develop innovative solutions.

Concurrently, the Community Education Programme offers a range of practical courses designed for children, teenagers, and adult learners interested in exploring creative disciplines. The fall season commences on August 30 with Portfolio Development A for participants aged 16 and above. This course, part of a four-section programme running until December 2, helps aspiring art and design students build competitive admissions portfolios while refining their creativity and drawing skills.

The Community Education offerings expand to include several specialized areas. Beginning September 6, Unconventional Canvas introduces art enthusiasts to contemporary art techniques, emphasizing experimentation with diverse materials and textures. From September 20 to October 13, the Digital Drawing course teaches participants to design creatures and environments using Procreate on iPads, focusing on transforming initial sketches into detailed digital illustrations. Starting October 6, Design Your Home guides learners through fundamentals of interior design such as space planning, furniture layouts, colour theory, and finish selection. Social Media Design & Branding: Create, Capture, Connect, kicking off November 2, explores the interplay between branding, graphic design, photography, video, and storytelling to enable participants to develop and present their own social media brand.

Courses for younger learners are also featured. Animation Tools: A Guide to Animation Software, beginning September 2, targets participants aged 13 to 17 and covers techniques in 2D drawing, digital animation, and traditional animation methods. For children aged 8 to 14, Sustainable Cardboard Furniture for Children starts on September 6, offering an introduction to sustainable design, engineering, and fabrication through the creation of functional furniture made from cardboard.

These fall 2026 programmes reflect VCUarts Qatar’s commitment to fostering creative skills across a broad spectrum of ages and professional levels, combining practical training with innovative, experiential learning opportunities.
