Andrew Guild Scace, a veteran executive at the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. Known as "Andy," Scace had a long and distinguished career in the financial sector, culminating in his role as Vice-Chairman of RBC Capital Markets before his retirement.

Born to Arthur L. and Jean C. Scace, Andy was a graduate of the University of Manitoba and a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, where he forged lifelong friendships. He initially worked as a substitute teacher before transitioning into finance, starting with National Trust. He subsequently joined Harris and Partners, which was later integrated into Dominion Securities. The company became part of RBC Dominion Securities following the Royal Bank of Canada’s acquisition in 1987. Scace remained with the firm through its evolution, contributing to its growth and success over several decades.

Scace is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barb; his two sons, Andrew and Cameron; and five grandchildren—Callum, Keifer, Willa, Charlie, and Griffin—who affectionately called him “Grandad.” He was also survived by sisters-in-law Susie Scace and Di Howard, along with their families. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Richard Andrew Scace.

Beyond his professional achievements, Scace was remembered as a devoted family man and a friend to many, with close ties to communities in Toronto, Lake of Bays, and Naples, Florida. Known for his warmth, humility, and sense of humor, he enjoyed sharing stories and jokes, often over family meals. His family described him as a gentleman whose kindness and integrity left a lasting impact on those around him.

Throughout his life, Scace was an active supporter of various charitable organizations, including North York General Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and the University Health Network (UHN). His family expressed gratitude to the medical teams, particularly Dr. Girish Kulkarni and Dr. Nazanin Fallah-Rad, for the care he received during his illness.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, at St. Cuthbert’s Church in Toronto, followed by a reception at the Four Seasons Hotel. His family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to support bladder cancer research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Condolences can be shared online through the funeral home’s website.
