Victoria Wood’s acclaimed sitcom *dinnerladies* is set to return in a new stage adaptation more than 25 years after its original television debut. The production marks the first theatrical revival authorised by Wood’s estate since her passing in 2016 at the age of 62.

The stage show will feature a storyline inspired by the original series and bring back the beloved characters from the Manchester canteen, including Stan, Bren, Tony, Dolly, Jean, Twinkle, and Anita. Les Dennis has been cast as Stan, the maintenance man, with the rest of the cast to be announced at a later date.

Originally created, written, and co-produced by Victoria Wood, who also starred as Bren, *dinnerladies* aired on the BBC from 1998 to 2000. The sitcom received critical acclaim for its sharp writing and warm portrayal of workplace camaraderie, securing a lasting legacy in British television comedy.

The new stage adaptation aims to capture the spirit of the original series while introducing the characters and their stories to a new generation of theatre audiences. Further details about the production’s premiere dates and venues are expected to be released in the coming months.
