Victorious Racing is pursuing an agreement with five-time champion jockey Oisin Murphy as the 31-year-old approaches the conclusion of his decade-long retainer with Qatar Racing at the end of 2026. The Bahraini racing operation, known for its substantial investment in the sport, has shown interest in securing Murphy’s services on a more permanent basis.

Murphy has enjoyed notable success riding for Victorious Racing and is scheduled to partner the stable’s Bay City Roller in the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Turf this Saturday. Chris Wall, the racing manager for Victorious, emphasized the existing but informal relationship between the jockey and the team. He explained that Murphy regularly rides some of their top horses and is expected to feature heavily at the Bahrain Trophy next month, which could provide an opportunity to formalize a longer-term arrangement.

Wall highlighted the strategic importance of retaining a jockey of Murphy’s calibre, noting that having him available exclusively strengthens the team’s prospects. “You don’t want someone as talented as Oisin riding for others or unavailable for your own team,” he said.

Murphy’s current contract with Qatar Racing, which began approximately ten years ago, is set to expire in late 2026. This timeline has prompted increased activity from other major racing entities such as Victorious Racing, who are looking to capitalize on the opportunity to bring the jockey fully into their fold.

While details of any formal agreement have yet to be finalized, the relationship between Murphy and Victorious Racing appears to be evolving from an ad hoc arrangement toward a more structured partnership, underscoring the jockey’s high demand in the competitive racing circuit.
