After more than a decade of anticipation and a recent year-long delay, Grand Theft Auto VI is set for release in November 2026. The latest installment in the landmark series will mark a significant moment in the video game industry, following the immense success of its predecessor, which sold 230 million copies across three console generations. The new game will return players to a reimagined Vice City, a sprawling environment modeled after Miami, where they will follow a storyline centered on a Bonnie-and-Clyde–style couple.
Ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI’s debut, several other notable titles are scheduled for release in fall 2026, spanning various franchises and genres. In September, “Marvel’s Wolverine” launches on PS5, offering players a visceral action experience with the iconic adamantium-clawed hero. The game combines intense combat mechanics with telekinetic support from Jean Grey. Following closely, “Control Resonant” arrives on September 24 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. The sequel moves its setting to a distorted New York, featuring shape-shifting weapons and gravity-defying challenges.
Also releasing on September 24 is “Silent Hill: Townfall,” a first-person horror spinoff set within the franchise’s characteristic fog-filled town. The game uses a portable TV device mechanic to assist players in solving puzzles and unraveling mysteries.
October brings a diverse lineup starting with “Gears of War: E-Day” on October 6, a prequel exploring the initial emergence of the Locust, deepening connections to the established third-person shooter storyline. “Silver Pines,” launching October 8 on multiple platforms including PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, delivers a survival horror experience with influences from Alan Wake and Resident Evil, emphasizing exploration and resource management in eerie environments.
Later that month, on October 13, “Valor Mortis” presents a unique twist on the challenging Soulslike genre by adopting a first-person perspective combined with a supernatural narrative linked to the Napoleonic Wars. “Final Fantasy Resonance,” arriving October 22, revisits the classic pixel-art style and turn-based combat that helped define the long-running role-playing series.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” releases on October 23, introducing a new setting where North Korea has invaded South Korea. The game features a new extraction mode, DMZ, drawing comparisons to tactical shooters like Escape From Tarkov. Closing October is “Phantom Blade Zero,” an action RPG blending Chinese martial arts aesthetics with steampunk design, where the assassin protagonist Soul has a limited time to survive. Film star and martial artist Donnie Yen contributed as a creative consultant.
In November, in addition to Grand Theft Auto VI, a full remake of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” is scheduled for November 5 on the Nintendo Switch 2. This updated edition retains the core time-travel adventure while adding modern enhancements such as voice acting, full camera control, and faster movement options.
The fall 2026 season offers a broad spectrum of gaming experiences, with the highly anticipated return to Vice City poised to dominate attention amid a lineup that caters to diverse player interests across action, horror, role-playing, and tactical shooter genres.
