Vietnam is actively pursuing expanded cooperation with major Chinese companies in the fields of technology, energy, and infrastructure, as part of its broader strategy to advance digital transformation, clean energy development, and transport connectivity. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc emphasized these priorities during meetings in Nanning, China, while attending the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.

During talks with Huawei executives, including Will Wang, the company’s vice president for Asia-Pacific and CEO for Southeast Asia, Tuc acknowledged Huawei's role in supporting Vietnam’s digital infrastructure and human resource development. He encouraged the company to deepen engagement in key sectors such as artificial intelligence, next-generation telecommunications, data centers, computing, and green energy. Tuc also urged Huawei to move beyond product supply towards joint research and development initiatives with Vietnamese partners. Wang expressed confidence in the potential for further collaboration and reiterated Huawei’s commitment to supporting Vietnam’s digital economy, green transition, and high-tech workforce training.

Tuc also met with senior officials from China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC). Speaking with CCCC’s deputy general manager, Yang Yisheng, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Vietnam’s accelerated infrastructure development, including major transport projects covering roads, railways, urban transit, aviation, and seaports. He invited CCCC to study Vietnam’s infrastructure plans and identify investment opportunities, particularly in railway connectivity initiatives such as the Lao Cai-Ha Noi and Hanoi-Hai Phong lines. CCCC indicated that Vietnam was a significant market and expressed interest in expanding its participation in transport infrastructure, logistics, seaport development, green energy, and other large-scale construction projects.

In a separate meeting with CEEC’s deputy general manager, Zhang Deliang, Tuc welcomed the company’s ongoing investment in Vietnam’s energy sector, amid the country’s efforts to develop renewable energy, gas-fired power, and support the green transition. CEEC outlined plans to increase collaboration on renewable energy projects and related infrastructure, offering to mobilize capital, technology, and expertise in line with Vietnam’s energy development goals. The company also showed interest in railway projects linking Vietnam and China, including routes from Lao Cai through Hanoi to Hai Phong, Dong Dang-Hanoi, and Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong. Tuc stressed Vietnam’s significant energy needs to sustain economic growth and its focus on expanding renewable sources such as wind, solar, and offshore wind power. He encouraged CEEC to propose specific cooperation models and to explore solutions for enhancing electricity generation, transmission capacity, and energy storage technologies.

These engagements underscore Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening ties with Chinese companies to support its sustainable growth objectives through technological innovation, infrastructure expansion, and energy transformation.
