Hanoi plans to develop its night economy significantly by 2035, aiming to establish six to eight key night economic zones alongside 15 to 20 streets and areas that will operate beyond midnight, according to local reports. The initiative is part of a recently approved project focused on boosting the city’s economic activity after dark.

The city expects the night economy to become a major contributor to its overall economic output, projected to account for approximately seven to eight percent of Hanoi’s gross regional domestic product by 2035. This development aligns with Hanoi’s broader strategy to enhance urban vitality through extended hours of operation in targeted areas.

The project also incorporates technological advancements to support the night economy. Officials plan to implement a smart urban management model, which includes facilitating 80 to 90 percent of transactions through cashless payment systems. Additionally, all designated night economy zones will be equipped with advanced security surveillance and digital infrastructure to ensure safety and efficiency.

Looking further ahead, Hanoi aims to attract between 8 to 10 million international visitors annually for night-time activities by 2045. This long-term target highlights the city’s intent to position itself as a major destination for night economy tourism in the region.
