Vincent Kompany, coach of Bayern Munich's amateur team, was taken to hospital on Friday after collapsing during a training session, the club confirmed. The 40-year-old former Manchester City captain had been observing a session involving Bayern's second team when the incident occurred.

Kompany has been dealing with a viral infection that reportedly contributed to complications involving scar tissue, resulting in pain and difficulty climbing stairs. Following the collapse, he was transported to a medical facility for evaluation and remained under observation overnight. His condition was described as stable.

In an official statement, Bayern Munich said Kompany will undergo comprehensive medical examinations and continue receiving treatment in hospital. Meanwhile, coaching responsibilities for training and match preparations will be handled by his staff until further notice.
