Actor Vinnie Jones has spoken about a heartfelt reunion with director Guy Ritchie on the set of the Netflix crime comedy "The Gentlemen," marking the end of a period of estrangement between the two. The pair had grown apart for several years following a disagreement related to Jones turning down a role in Ritchie’s 2008 film "RocknRolla."
Jones recounted the circumstances during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, explaining that their distance developed partly due to alcohol-related issues. He said Ritchie had called him about the "RocknRolla" role, but Jones, who was intoxicated at the time, declined. Following that, the two did not communicate for a significant period.
Now sober, Jones described their emotional reconnection during the filming of "The Gentlemen." The encounter occurred during a funeral scene early in the production. Jones recalled how Ritchie approached him directly on set, and both men became tearful as they reunited after years without contact.
In "The Gentlemen," Jones plays the character Geoff Seacombe, a gamekeeper, marking his return to collaboration with Ritchie. The reunion highlighted the personal and professional bonds that can endure despite challenges over time.
