Ethnic violence in Manipur has extended to regions with predominantly Naga populations, spreading unrest to areas that had remained largely unaffected until recently. The districts of Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong, Chandel, and parts of Kangpokpi, known for their significant Naga communities, have seen a rise in violent incidents over the past months.

Ukhrul district, home to the Tangkhul Naga community and bordering both Nagaland and Myanmar, has been particularly affected. On Friday, a clash in Ukhrul resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to several others. In response, security forces intensified their efforts on Saturday to detain those responsible and to curb further violence.

Authorities in Imphal reported tightening security measures across Ukhrul and neighboring districts, conducting ongoing operations aimed at restoring order. The expansion of conflict into these Naga-dominated areas marks a notable development in the broader ethnic tensions gripping Manipur, reflecting the complex and volatile nature of the regional unrest.
