Japanese bakery chain I’m Donut?, known for its soft, pillowy doughnuts, is set to launch its first outlet in Singapore in 2026. The announcement was made through a recent Instagram post featuring a construction barricade with the caption "Singapore? 2026 – Coming soon...," alongside the establishment of a new Singapore-specific Instagram account (@imdonut.sgp). Details regarding the store’s exact location and opening date have yet to be disclosed.
Founded in 2022 by Japanese chef Ryouta Hirako, I’m Donut? gained widespread attention on social media for its nama doughnuts — a style characterized by a fresh, light texture that reportedly “melts in the mouth.” The bakery offers a variety of fillings, including custard, matcha, and pistachio, as well as seasonal and location-specific flavors tailored to local tastes.
The brand has expanded rapidly since its inception, operating multiple outlets across Japan and branching out internationally. Its first overseas store debuted in April 2025 in New York’s Times Square. Since then, I’m Donut? has opened branches in Taiwan, South Korea, and Malaysia, with an additional outlet slated to begin operations soon in Indonesia.
The Malaysian store in Kuala Lumpur, which opened on September 12, features exclusive flavors that incorporate local ingredients such as Milo, pandan, and coconut. Prices there range from RM4.60 (approximately S$1.45) for the original doughnut to RM12 for filled doughnuts and “sando,” a Japanese-style sandwich offered with both sweet and savory fillings.
Social media posts frequently highlight long queues at the bakery’s outlets, with customers sometimes waiting up to an hour to purchase the popular treats. The brand’s blend of conventional Japanese style and localized flavors appears to be resonating strongly in its new markets, and its upcoming Singapore launch will mark another step in its international growth.
