Vodafone demonstrated the speed of its latest 5G mobile service by beating British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith in a creative challenge involving her 200-meter record. During the event, Asher-Smith, who holds the British records for both the 100m and 200m sprints, ran the distance in her official time of 21.88 seconds, while Vodafone’s SuperMobile service completed the task of downloading her 150-track playlist in just 21.2 seconds, effectively outpacing her on the track.
Asher-Smith, aged 30, expressed admiration for the technology’s performance, noting the service’s ability to surpass her speed on the racecourse. Vodafone’s SuperMobile leverages advanced 5G capabilities, offering users download and streaming speeds up to four times faster than conventional mobile plans. This upgrade aims to enhance user experiences by significantly reducing wait times for high-bandwidth activities like music downloads and video streaming.
The event highlighted the growing potential of 5G networks to transform digital consumption habits by delivering ultra-fast connectivity. Vodafone’s demonstration sought to emphasize the practical benefits of its new service, showcasing how its network improvements can keep pace with, and even exceed, human feats in specific time-sensitive tasks.
