A public health initiative known as the “Walking Hour” is scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Baha, under the patronage of Prince Hossam bin Saud, the region’s governor. The event is organized by the local branch of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports, with collaboration from multiple government agencies.
The initiative aims to promote physical activity and increase awareness about the health benefits of walking. Citing research on the role of regular walking in preventing chronic diseases and enhancing quality of life, organizers emphasize the importance of incorporating such activities into daily routines.
Walking Hour is part of a wider set of efforts across Saudi Arabia to encourage healthier lifestyles and improve community well-being. The event will be held in public spaces throughout Baha, utilizing specially prepared walking paths equipped with health and safety measures.
To ensure participant safety and provide support during the event, several regional authorities, including the Baha Health Cluster, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, and the Baha municipality, have contributed to the preparation and oversight of the designated areas.
Bandar Al-Ghamdi, director of the Ministry of Sports branch in Baha, stated that the event operates under the direct guidance of Prince Hossam bin Saud. He described the Walking Hour as a key component of ongoing programs designed to boost physical activity levels and encourage community members to adopt healthier habits.
In addition to government bodies, various educational and volunteer organizations will take part in the initiative, demonstrating a multi-sector collaboration aimed at reinforcing health and sports initiatives in the region.
