Walmart has inaugurated its third milk processing facility in Robinson, Texas, marking a significant expansion of its perishables supply chain. The company invested over $350 million in the new site, which is expected to create more than 400 jobs in the region.

The Robinson facility will handle the processing and bottling of milk in various sizes and types, primarily for Walmart’s Great Value and Sam’s Club Member’s Mark private label brands. It will serve over 650 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs across the South Central United States. Walmart currently operates around 5,200 stores and clubs nationwide.

Walmart's entry into milk processing began in early 2016, amid mounting pressure on profit margins driven by high labor costs and significant investments in e-commerce. The move also aimed to maintain competitive pricing against rivals such as Kroger, a major U.S. grocer.

The company opened its first milk processing plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2018, followed by a second facility in Valdosta, Georgia, which started operations in December 2025. The new Texas facility continues Walmart’s decade-long effort to strengthen its control over perishable goods and enhance supply chain efficiency.
