The United Arab Emirates has cautioned against further escalation amid rising tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for dialogue and political solutions to maintain regional stability. Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, stressed that past conflicts have only generated additional crises, urging restraint and rationality in addressing ongoing disputes.
Speaking on social media platform X, Gargash reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to a balanced approach grounded in diplomacy, despite speculation about possible renewed confrontations. “Experiences in the region have demonstrated that wars only lead to further crises, and that diplomacy is the most effective means of safeguarding security and achieving peace and stability,” he said.
The call for dialogue coincides with diplomatic efforts led by Qatar, which has reportedly presented Tehran with a new peace proposal aimed at de-escalating tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel. According to reports, the draft agreement outlines a seven-day series of confidence-building measures involving Washington and Tehran, potentially commencing in the coming week. Several nations could serve as guarantors of the process. However, a senior Iranian official involved in the negotiations described the proposal as unacceptable, underscoring the challenges faced by mediators.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump declined to rule out the possibility of further military strikes against Iran following the midterm elections scheduled for next week. When asked about the prospect of new attacks, Trump responded, “I can’t tell you that. But anything is possible.” He suggested that Tehran favored reaching an agreement but might be delaying negotiations until after the vote.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi cautioned that any renewed military action by the U.S. or Israel against Iran would severely disrupt the region’s economy and have wider global repercussions.
In a contrasting stance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu adopted a more confrontational tone, declaring that he and Trump share a historic opportunity to eliminate what he termed the Iranian threat “once and for all.” Netanyahu’s statement comes amid political uncertainty following Israel’s recent inconclusive parliamentary elections.
The unfolding developments highlight persistent divisions and competing strategies among key regional actors and external powers as efforts to resolve the complex disputes remain fraught with difficulty.
