Wealdstone secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Worthing in a National League clash on Saturday, ending a difficult run of form with a strong performance at their home ground. The result saw Gary Waddock’s side advance in the competition, overcoming Adam Hinshelwood’s high-ranking team.
The first half remained evenly contested, with both sides creating limited clear-cut chances and the scoreline remaining goalless at the interval. However, the tempo increased significantly after the break as Wealdstone asserted greater control.
The hosts opened the scoring through Ronan Maher, a Walsall loanee, who curled an impressive strike past Worthing goalkeeper Taylor Seymour. Within minutes, Wealdstone doubled their lead when recent signing Fejiri Okenabirhie was released behind the defense and calmly finished into the bottom left corner.
Worthing attempted to mount a response and came close to reducing the deficit in the 62nd minute when defender Cory Adjetey-Brew fired a fierce shot that rattled the woodwork. Despite this effort, the Rebels were unable to capitalize.
Luke Norris put the victory beyond doubt by collecting the ball, rounding Seymour, and slotting it into an empty net. Norris briefly threatened to extend his tally further, but his powerful effort struck the crossbar late in the match.
The convincing win provided a morale boost for Wealdstone as they look to climb out of the relegation zone, while Worthing will seek to rebound following the unexpected defeat to a lower-ranked opponent.
