Spain’s preparations for Sunday’s World Cup final against Argentina were disrupted on Saturday as severe weather forced the team to halt their outdoor training session. The squad moved their warm-up indoors due to storms and lightning in the area, according to a team announcement.

The extreme weather conditions coincided with a broader pattern affecting the northeastern United States. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill issued a warning to residents about the potential for damaging winds, tornadoes, flash flooding, and large hail associated with the ongoing storms.

Meteorologists noted that the region, which had been experiencing haze caused by smoke from Canadian wildfires, is expected to see clearer skies by the time of the final. The arrival of thunderstorms is anticipated to disperse much of the smoke lingering over New Jersey, improving visibility ahead of the highly anticipated match between Spain and Argentina.
