Kuwait is experiencing a severe spell of hot weather accompanied by strong winds and dust storms, the Kuwait Meteorological Department reported on Wednesday. According to Acting Director Dhirar Al-Ali, the country is being influenced by the Indian seasonal low pressure system, which is bringing extremely hot, dry air and northwesterly winds exceeding 50 kilometers per hour.

These conditions have led to a significant reduction in visibility, particularly in open areas, with dust storms reducing visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some locations. The strong winds have also contributed to high sea waves along Kuwait’s coast. Temperatures during the daytime are expected to reach between 46 and 48 degrees Celsius, with nighttime temperatures remaining high at 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.

Officials indicated that the intense weather conditions are likely to persist through Thursday, with a gradual easing expected on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings to vulnerable groups, including individuals with asthma, allergies, chronic illnesses, as well as children and the elderly. These groups are advised to limit outdoor activities and to use protective masks when necessary.

The heat and dust storms highlight the challenges posed by regional weather systems during this period, underscoring the importance of preparedness and public awareness to mitigate health risks.
