Welling United manager Ryan Maxwell has expressed confidence in new signing Kaan Bennett’s potential to return to professional football. Bennett, 21, joined Welling United after a productive spell at Burgess Hill Town, where he scored eight goals in 16 appearances following his transfer from Lewes in January.
Bennett had previously demonstrated his scoring ability against Welling United last season while playing for Lewes, netting in both fixtures against the Isthmian Premier side. Maxwell described Bennett as a player with a blend of technical skill and physicality, emphasizing his determination to reestablish himself as a full-time professional.
“Kaan is exciting, robust and technically very good,” Maxwell said. “He’s desperate to be a full-time player again and I certainly believe he can be.”
The forward echoed his manager’s sentiment, expressing optimism about his decision to join Welling. “I wouldn’t have joined if I didn’t see Welling doing big things this season — I’m looking forward to it,” Bennett remarked.
Welling United aims to leverage Bennett’s goal-scoring capabilities as they seek to strengthen their squad in the Isthmian Premier League, with Maxwell focusing on helping the young striker progress in his football career.
