West Auckland secured their first ever win in the Northern Premier League (NPL) with a 2-1 victory over County Durham rivals Consett on Sunday.

The home side started the match strongly, testing Consett’s goalkeeper Harry Moss early on. Moss made several important saves, including a powerful 25-yard shot from West Auckland captain Luke Bailey and a header from Oscar Eckley-Aldsworth following a corner kick. Despite his efforts, Moss was unable to prevent West Auckland from taking the lead in the 17th minute when Cieran Jackson struck a long-range shot that found the back of the net.

Consett responded in the second half, leveling the score just after the hour mark. Marc Costello played a key role in the equalizer, delivering a pass to Donny Holdsworth, who then set up Isaac Walker to score with an 18-yard shot.

The match-winning goal came three minutes later when Fin O’Gorman powered a header into the net to give West Auckland a 2-1 advantage that they maintained until the final whistle. The victory marked a significant milestone for West Auckland, who recorded their inaugural win in the NPL against local rivals.
