West Ham defender Dinos Mavropanos marked his return from injury by scoring in Tuesday’s 4-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, securing the club’s first league win of the season. The match, held at West Ham’s London Stadium, saw Mavropanos find the net for the first time since April 10, adding the final goal to seal the win.

Mavropanos, who had been sidelined for the past two games due to a knee issue, showcased his readiness by scoring from close range, putting West Ham ahead 4-1 before Wolves added a late goal. The defender has a history of success against Wolverhampton, having scored three times last season, including two goals in a 4-0 league triumph against the same opponents in the spring.

After the match, Mavropanos expressed relief at overcoming his recent injury and optimism about the team’s progress. He noted that the squad is gradually building cohesion, particularly following the close of the summer transfer window. “I had a little problem with my knee, which kept me out for the last two games, but now I feel good,” Mavropanos said. “The whole team feels better, slowly. We know each other better now, and now the transfer window is done we have to just focus on ourselves and go for it.”

Mavropanos also praised the new additions to the squad, singling out midfielder Divine Mukasa, who contributed two goals in the victory. Mukasa, returning to West Ham after a previous spell, has integrated well and positively influenced the team dynamics, according to the defender.

“Everyone who has come in is a great player, a great lad, and we’re really happy to have them here,” Mavropanos added. “Divine is one of the players who has come into the team, and from the first moment you could see his quality... He put in a great performance and scored two great goals.”

Looking ahead, West Ham face Derby County on Saturday, with Mavropanos emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in a league known for its fast-paced schedule. “We go again now, getting ready for Saturday.
