Weston-super-Mare and Folkestone Invicta played to a 1-1 draw in their latest encounter, with both sides sharing the points after a closely contested match. The fixture took place midweek, marking the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Folkestone Invicta took an early lead through Bobby Kelman, who was making his first start for the club. The on-loan Hornchurch forward displayed composure as he slipped behind the Weston defense and finished past goalkeeper Max Harris. Kelman nearly doubled his tally shortly afterward, but Harris made a strong save to keep the score at 1-0.

Weston-super-Mare responded with attacking efforts from their key forward Louis Britton. The striker came close to equalizing on two occasions before halftime, firing over the bar on one attempt and seeing another effort well saved by Folkestone’s goalkeeper Ted Collins.

The equalizer arrived just before the hour mark. Sub Luke Skinner’s shot was deflected out for a corner, and from the resulting set-piece, Luke Coulson stepped up. Coulson, who has been instrumental for Weston since joining two years ago, delivered a direct free kick that found the back of the net past Collins. Although Collins may have felt he could have prevented the goal, he later made a notable save from Will Jenkins Davies to preserve the draw.

Folkestone Invicta’s manager Jay Saunders reflected on the game, expressing disappointment at his team’s slow start, referencing a recent midweek defeat to Ebbsfleet United. Despite this, his side managed to recover and secure a point away from home.

The match showcased balanced competition, with both teams creating chances and demonstrating strong individual performances. The draw leaves Weston-super-Mare and Folkestone Invicta level in this encounter, setting the stage for potential future meetings in the campaign.
