Lloyd’s Coaches has launched a 250-mile day-long tour featuring visits to multiple JD Wetherspoon pubs across North Wales and nearby areas, drawing significant public interest. The route, which begins and concludes in Dolgellau, Gwynedd, is designed as an organized pub crawl, covering six county boundaries and several notable Wetherspoon locations.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 27, the tour departs at 9:15 a.m. and makes its first stop at the Wilfred Owen pub in Oswestry around noon, where participants have 45 minutes to enjoy refreshments. Subsequent stops include The Castle Hotel in Ruthin, The Picture House in Colwyn Bay, The Palladium in Llandudno, Tafarn y Porth in Caernarfon, and finally Pen Cob in Pwllheli. Each stop allows for approximately 45 minutes to an hour of visiting time, with the last planned stop set for 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the inaugural event were priced at £20 per person, excluding drinks purchased at the pubs. The offering quickly sold out within hours of becoming available, prompting Lloyd’s Coaches to add a second coach on the same day to accommodate additional demand. That second coach also sold out soon after being announced.
A spokesperson for Lloyd’s Coaches commented on the overwhelming response, noting the rapid pace of sales and suggesting that further expansion of the service might be considered. The tour aims to combine travel and socializing by linking popular pubs over a wide geographical area into a single organized outing.
This event reflects the enduring popularity of pub tours in the UK and marks a novel approach by Lloyd’s Coaches, targeting enthusiasts of JD Wetherspoon’s extensive pub network. With both coaches fully booked, the company has yet to confirm whether additional trips will be scheduled in the future.
