Iran’s national wheelchair basketball team is set to take part in an international tournament in Turkey as part of their final preparations for the upcoming Wheelchair Basketball World Championship. The event, organized by the Turkish Basketball Federation, will be held in Istanbul from August 20 to 25.
The Iranian team earned their place at the World Championship following a strong showing at the final qualification tournament in Thailand in June. There, they secured first place in Group A with three consecutive wins against Senegal, Brazil, and Poland, ensuring their participation in the global competition.
The Istanbul tournament will feature four teams qualified for the World Championship: hosts Turkey, Iran, the Netherlands, and Poland. This event is designed to provide a platform for all teams to gain valuable competitive experience ahead of the World Championship.
With the World Championship approaching, the teams aim to use the tournament to refine their strategies and improve team cohesion in a high-level international setting. The competition will serve as a key opportunity for the participating nations to finalize their preparations before the main event begins.
