Jim Thome, the Chicago White Sox Hall of Famer, and his wife, Andrea, acquired a one-bedroom condominium in Chicago’s New Eastside neighborhood for $975,000 last month. The unit, located on the 15th floor of a recently constructed high-rise, spans 1,323 square feet. The purchase was made through a Delaware limited liability company, which conceals the buyers' identities.

Thome, originally from Peoria, Illinois, played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball, amassing 612 home runs, including four seasons with the White Sox. The couple previously lived in Hinsdale during his playing career before purchasing a seven-bedroom home in Burr Ridge for $4.6 million in 2012.

The purchase comes shortly after the White Sox selected the Thomes’ son, Landon, in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft. Andrea Thome confirmed that the condo is intended as an investment property, noting the family’s plans to remain in the Chicago area long term due to their son’s professional ties. The couple was represented in the transaction by real estate agent Tyler Stallings of Corcoran.

The condominium carries a property tax bill of $19,931 for the 2024 tax year.
